Remember Me
Wow, this movie is só impressive and that’s not only because the lovely Robert Pattinson is part of it! It’s about a troubled, depressed boy (Rob) who meets a girl whom has a turbulent past as well. The difference is that her past makes her optimistic and a epicurean instead of getting depressed like the boy. They fall in love but are they strong enough to overcome their past and the differences between them? What I also loved about this movie that it is about 9/11 without becoming a depressive, heavy movie. There’s a perfect balance and an original twist to the ‘simple’ boy meets girl story.

Definitely, Maybe
A romantic comedy about a little girl who wants to find out who her mommy is. Her dad sets out a ‘wrong track’ in the form of a bedtime story. To be honest; this was not one of the best romcoms I’ve seen, but it was ok.

Changeling
A grief-stricken mother takes on the LAPD to her own detriment when it stubbornly tries to pass off an obvious impostor as her missing child, while also refusing to give up hope that she will find him one day. This movie, starring Angelina Jolie, is só impressive, absolutely magnificant. As a sidenote: the clothing is great as well!

Gooische Vrouwen
A Dutch movie which is kind of a mixture of Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives. It is based on the same called series and is about fortunate women. It’s about love, passion, clothes and friendship. Great feel good movie!

Love and Other Drugs
A woman suffering from Parkinson’s befriends a drug rep working for Pfizer against 1990s Pittsburgh backdrop. I definitely liked this movie however it’s not added to my favourites.

Photo editing

I was playing around with photo editing sites, which is kinda addicting. The picture above was taken at the 16th birthday of Kiymet. We all look so young there!

Me wanted by the lovely Flynn Ryder (from one of my favourite movies Tangled).

Marle for president!

Oh you’re so funny Ashton and Anne

Haha Ashton Kutcher is for sure one of the funniest famous men as far as I know. He appeared in a helmet and bullet-proof vest with ‘not dave’ attached on it at David Letterman’s show. He did so after Letterman had been threatened with death because of some jokes he made before about Osama Bin Laden amongst others. Ashton: “You can’t be too careful sitting next to a man that had been fatwa-ed.”

Anne Hathaway raps out her frustrations about papparazzi, so cute and funny!

Pink – Bad Influence

Love, love, LOVE this song by Pink lately! It’s on repeat constantly. For me it’s the ultimate party song and the lyrics are just great. Girlpower I say =)

Alright sir

Three olives, shake it up, i like it dirty (dirty)
Tequila for my friend it makes her flirty (flirty)
Trust me

I’m the instigator of underwear
Showing up here and there uh oh (oh no)
I’m always on a mission from the get-go (get-go)
So what if it’s only 1 o’clock in the afternoon
It’s never too soon to send out all the invatations to the last night (of your life)

Lordy, Lordy, Lordy!
I can’t help it i like to party, it’s genetic!
It’s electrifying, wind me up and watch me go
Where she stops, nobody knows
A good excuse to be a bad influence on you and you (x15)

Alright ma’am (ma’am)
Calm down i know your son said he was in my house (my house)
He was the captain of the football team but i turned him out
He wasn’t the first and he won’t be the last, to tone it down
This happens all the time

I’m a story to tell the alibi
They wanna go home i asked them (why)
It’s daylight (not night)
They might need a break from all the real life (get a life)
It gets to be too much sometimes
It’s never too late to send out all the invitations to the last night of (your life)

Lordy, Lordy, Lordy!
I can’t help i like to party it’s genetic!
It’s electrifying, wind me up and watch me go
Where she stops, nobody knows
A good excuse to be a bad influence on you and you (x15)

I’m off to see the doctor
I hope she has a cure
I hope she makes me better
What does that even mean? (we don’t know!)

Lordy, Lordy, Lordy!
I can’t help it i like to party it’s genetic!
It’s electrifying, wind me up and watch me go
Where she stops, nobody knows
A good excuse to be a bad influence on you

Lordy, Lordy, Lordy!
I can’t help it i like to party it’s genetic!
It’s electrifying, wind me up and watch me go
Where she stops, nobody knows
A good excuse to be a bad influence on you

I’m a good excuse (good excuse)
To be a bad influence on you and you and you

You’re too tired
You’re not too tired!

My super ex girlfriend
Me and my little brother love to watch movies together, especially comedies and animated movies. Our top-favourite is Madagascar 1 and 2 😉 The best ting about watching movies with him is the fact that if it’s only a tiny little bit funny, he burst into laughing which causes you getting a laughing-kick-that-doesn’t-stop as well. It happened many times that I had to cry and almost fell off the couch only because of his laughing. It’s great, I tell you! The same thing happened every now and then while watching My super ex girlfriend, I’m sure it would have but pretty different if I would not have watched it together with my bro – ’cause to be honest, it is not worth an uncountable amount of oscars.

Burlesque
I watched Burlesque together with some friends and I must say they were lyrical about this Christina Aguilera movie. I wasn’t thát enhousiastic, but I think that’s because I expected só much out of it. I mean: a movie with Christina Aguilera singing in it?! Must be pretty amazing! It was nice but not great. Don’t take my opinion too seriously btw, I had the same with Dirty Dancing.. 😉

The Duchess
This is really ‘my kinda movie’. If you hear that Pride and Prejudice (the version with Keira Knightley) is one of my all time favourite movies, you might understand why. The Duchess is a costume drama as well and again performs Keira Knightley one of the main characters. It has to be your genre, but if you’re a fan of movies in the ‘Jane Austen’ style, you should definitely give ‘The Duchess’ a chance!

Letters to Juliet
This movie was on my wishlist for só long! Amanda Seyfried is one of my favourite actresses (together with e.g. Kate Hudson) and I lóve her movie ‘Dear John’. This movie is really great even though I expected it to have more of that ancient romance in it, instead of tending towards an ‘ordinary romcom’. Never mind, this is really a great movie which you will not regret watching!

No Strings Attached
I’ve seen this movie in the cinema, together with three friends (2 men, 1 girl) and we absolutely liked it all. It’s suitable for both girls (romance and Ashton Kutcher!) and boys (sex and Natalie Portman!) and pretty funny. However, the boys (they’re not Dutch btw) found it a little bit embarrassing to watch it with girls, from time to time, because of some extended scenes ;-).

The timeless rules of dating

Tags

,

Source: Meisje twee punt nul

I came across an old article on the rules of dating published in a magazine decades ago. You can discuss about this, but honestly I think most of them are still great rules to apply when dating a guy. I mean: dressing in your ‘boudoir’ or at least somewhere he is not around, not necessarily because it’s more classy (no, nowadays it is not that much of a problem) but I think it’s a great way to stay mysterious for a little longer. And that’s exactly what will keep him interested: girls that show all their dirt (and other, not so dirty information) will probably not stay interesting to him that long. So.. if he stays over at your place? Get dressed in the bathroom the next morning, instead of getting changed in front of him. Of course, this applies dating, I guess it would become a little scary if you’re in a relationship and still ask for him leaving the room so that you can get dressed 😉

The second rule is so absolutely true. Honestly girls, even in this modern times men don’t like women behaving as if they’re construction workers! So keep your legs crossed or next to each other, straighten your back, shoulders backwards and please show us a little smile! I guarantee you that a lot more people (it’s applicable in general, valuable for every situation) will show interest in you and like you!

I guess they still don’t. Crying over nothing is absolutely a no-go around men, they simply don’t understand. However, these times it is not a crime to show or explain your real feelings every now and then, but be careful to not share your whole (emotional) life with him at once or too soon! And… a tear drop every now and then can cause wonders if you want something done or to get that Tiffany’s necklace! 😉

Clothes are, as long as you’re not dating your next best gay friend, not a man’s favourite subject and by talking about it a lot you might look shallow. However, I think if it’s really your passion, you can tell him about that of course. Just don’t overdo it, but that’s for every subject! I partly agree with the flattering and pleasing part, because even though I absolutely disagree with you trying to be someone else it is also important to show interest for his favourite subjects that might not be that interesting to you. But don’t lie, don’t tell him you absolutely LOOOOOVE classic cars while you actually feel the urge to crash with them untill they’re total loss! 😉

So yes, I think us ladies should keep the old rules in mind. You’ll sure become a little more interesting and mysterious to him and that’s in most cases definitely a good thing! Just don’t overdo it the way your grandma would apply them =)

Any more helpful dating rules and tips? Please share!

Movies seen in 2011 – part I

I’m addicted to making lists so it should not be too much of a suprise that I keep lists about the books I read and movies I watch during a year. In this category I’ll keep you up to date with the movies I’ve seen so far and my opinion about them. 5 movies at a time will be discussed and I think I’ll try to do it about twice a week!

Let’s start then. These were the five very first movies I’ve seen in 2011:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part I
Since I was 8 and my mom bought me the first Harry Potter book as a Sinterklaas gift me and my dad are hooked to this series. I really love the last book and movies, they’re better than the movies in between I think. Absolutely a recommendation, but I guess that’s not really a surprise.

It’s complicated
When I was about 15 I truly believed that my love for chickflicks would never fade. However, now that I am a little older I already start perfering other genres over the chickflick. Nevertheless, every now and then a girl simply needs one, to boost our emotional level, to feel better and to unconditionally feel connected with the shallow characters. To believe fairytales exist. It’s complicated really put a smile of happiness on my face. It’s one of the better chickflicks I’ve seen and an absolute feel-good movie. Well, who would expect something else of a Meryl Streep movie?

Marie Antoinette
I’m sure that this movie is not to be a favourite of all you. A lot of my friends find it dready and boring, I even had to turn it off so we could start another film! I liked it though. Sofia Coppola’s perspective is clear and I absolutely love her unique way to present things. It is a retelling of France’s iconic but ill-fated queen, Marie Antoinette. What makes the movie good and unique, in my opinion, are the ‘modern’ elements in it. It’s contradictionary and doesn’t fit completely, which adds  sometimes funny and scoffing moments. It makes fun of both the ara of Marie Antoinette as well as ours. It’s a girly, romantic movie with a very interesting twist.

17 Again
Well, what can I say about it? I had it on my computer for ages so it was really time to try this one out. It was not bad, absolutely nice enough for a relaxing evening but definitely not one of my favourites.

Bride Wars
Yeah.. again a chickflick, but also again a pretty good one. Bride wars is about two brides who are best friends, planning their wedding. But then they become rivals because their weddings are scheduled at the same day, and another location is not an option since they’re both dreaming of a Plaza-wedding since they were little girls. It’s funny, it’s dreamy, romantic and about friendship as well as love. Plus Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson (one of my favourite actresses!).

What Paris is doing wrong

When you’re the most happening person at the party, it’s time to leave.

By Kelly Cutrone in ‘If you have to cry go outside’. At first side this quote might seem a bit odd, however I think there’s a great hidden meaning in it. It might even be one of the best life lessons ever. How I interprete it? I think it is important to always surround yourself by people that are a little more successful than yourself, a little more passionate/disciplined/…, people that inspire you to always reach for the stars. When you’re surrounded by people that are ‘better’ than yourself, you’ll find yourself becoming more successful as well. Think about it.. in my opinion this is exactly what Paris Hilton is doing ‘wrong’. She likes to be the most happening person at whatever place she goes. Even though she is in the position to surround herself by some of the most succesful people of the world, politicians, actors, business people.. Instead it looks like she prefers to be the topic of the day. Of course I don’t know all about her and she might as well do these things but at least this is what she shows to the rest of the world and how I see her. How tempting it might be: don’t always go for the easy and flattering situations of being the most happening person (btw don’t get ‘most happening’ wrong: this does not necessarily have anything to do with popularity, even though that’s a factor as well, but can also refer to success in your work/studies/lifestyle/…).

Remember: Always reach for the stars

Getting ready for Rhodos

Tags

Tomorrow morning we’ll leave for Düsseldorf airport and then ’round 2 pm we’ll fligh high to Rhodos 😉 Within a few moments Britt will be here to pack our suitcase (yes we share one, that’s cheaper.. told you we’re Dutch? ;-)) and she’ll stay for dinner. We will bake pancakes! The pictures are a reminder of what happened last time we did that..
